Description:
2 works in 1 volume, 8vo. 1). XVI. 47 pages. 2). 24 pages. 2 engravings were placed in frontispiece of the work by Demoustier, a portrait of the author and a spanking scene entitled "Discipline Patriotique". Later half-leather, ornated spine with nerves (late 19th century binding). Interesting collection of two anticlerical poetic pamphlets, to which has been attached a very rare revolutionary engraving representing a nun, bure curled up and buttocks in the air, whipped by sans-culottes with the legend inscribed at the bottom of the image: "Discipline Patriotique". The scene is observed from the background by a man leaving the "Caffé Richelieu".

Description:
Madrid, en la Imprenta Real, 1807. 8vo. (1 blank). 3 leaves. 58 pages. 1 engraved plate. (1 blank). Full red morocco, flat ornamented spine, royal arms gilt on top board, gilt fillet on the leading edges of sides, all edges gilt (contemporary binding, small wormholes on spine). First and unique Spanish translation of this dissertation on the discovery of two zodiacs in Egypt during Napoleonic campaigns. Their dating caused a strong polemic among the astronomers of the period (Lalande, Burckhardt, etc.), as it seemed to put biblical chronology in question. Abbé Testa, supported by the archeologist Visconti, became the leader of the Bible partisans and dated the zodiacs of the 3rd century BF. The work is illustrated with a large engraved plate depicting the capitals of the temples of Dendera and Henné. Precious armorial binding of King of Spain Carlos IV (1788-1808). Palau, 331020.

Description:
A Paris, chez Desaint et Saillant, et Durand, 1756. 8vo. Engraved portrait. VIII. 184 pages. 1 leaf. 10 out-of-text engraved plates. Full green morocco, ornate ribbed spine, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, edges painted red (contemporary binding). Original Edition of this famous epic poem composed of ten songs that tell the story of the discovery of "La Colombiade" by Christopher Columbus, the protagonist. It recounts his journey, his encounters with the inhabitants, the customs, the industries, the animals, the landscape and the battles that took place. It's the story of Christopher Columbus himself, in the form of a poem explaining the problems of financing, the adventures of the voyage, the discovery and part of the conquest. The publication of this work earned its author the praise of her most illustrious contemporaries: of Fontenelle, who called her his daughter; of Clairaut, who compared her to Madame du Châtelet; of La Condamine; of Voltaire who, receiving her in Ferney, went to meet…

Description:
Paris, Claude Morel, 1625. 8vo. 6 pages. 2 leaves. 499 pages. 8 leaves. Half calf, spine ribbed and decorated (19th century binding). First Edition of the French translation of the "Tetras Gravissimorum totius Capitis affectum" by physician and chemist Joseph Duchesne, Sieur de la Violette (1544-1609). After a long stay in Germany, Duchesne became ordinary physician to Henri IV and devoted himself to alchemical studies, promoting the ideas of Paracelsus and chemical medicines derived from metals and minerals. This rare work on neurology has an alchemical background, notably in the preparations and formulas for medicines, drawn from Hermetic practice. The last part of the volume deals specifically with this subject: "De la Signature interne du Vitrio", "De l'Antimoine", "De l'Or et de l'Argent", "De l'Argent vif ou Mercure", etc. Stamp on title page (library of the Société Historique de Gascogne, a learned society founded in Auch in 1859 and dissolved in 1939). A good copy. Brunet, 856. Cf. Ferguson,…
