Description:
London: Maggs Brothers, 1987. Reprint Edition limited to 75 Numbered copies, of which this is number 29. Hardcover. Very good. Format is approximately 4.25 inches by 7.5 inches. Contains preface, footnotes, and errata. This work was first printed in 1829. This book is one of the rarest of all the memoirs written by participants in the Peninsular War (one of the Napoleonic Wars that took place in Spain). Robert Eadie's love of a soldier's life is attested by the fact that, when the Veterans were called out in 1819, he could not resist, once again, volunteering. He spent a year guarding the prison hulks in Sheerness before being finally discharged in 1821 at Edinburgh Castle. Originally on the Irish establishment, the regiment became part of the British Army in 1804 and was renamed the 79th Regiment of Foot (Cameron Highlanders). The 1st Battalion took part in the Battle of Copenhagen in August 1807 during the Napoleonic Wars. In July 1808 the 79th Foot was deployed to Portugal for… Read more

Eagan won his summer gold in boxing and his winter gold in four-man bobsled. Finally, Eagan is one of the few athletes who have competed in both the Summer and Winter Olympic games. Eagan studied law at Harvard University and later at the University of Oxford.
