Light rubbing to edges of cases. Light toning to wraps, interiors clean. Published by two tuberculosis patients at Trudeau Sanitarium during the first World War, these collected pamphlets contain short selections of humor, prose, quotations, and general good cheer.

Light foxing to text block edges and endpapers, faint musty odor. Boards and text block very clean, as new. First-hand accounts of contact with spirits from beyond the grave.

New Haven, CT: Yale University Library, 1979. Wraps. Very Good. 8vo. 17 pp text + [31] pp plates. Peach paper wraps printed with black illustration to front. Wraps lightly soiled, faint creasing to outer corners. Text includes a checklist of illustrated titles and black and white reproductions of the artist's wood engravings. Half title inscribed by Eichenberg "To Tom and Joan - Good Wishes for 1980." Laid in is bright green leaf (appx 5 x 7) of notepad paper with lengthy, personal message from Eichenberg, inviting the recipients to visit his home in Peacedale, RI.

Otherwise fine. Numbered 15 out of 350 copies. Engravings of Lao-Tsu, Michelangelo, Erasmus, Rembrandt, Goya, Beethoven, Daumier, Lincoln, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Gandhi, Dorothy Day.

Soiling and chipping to dust jacket, heaviest at spine ends and corners. Spine cloth and top of front board lightly scuffed. Light foxing scattered throughout. Artist and subject John Elliott's bookplate to fpd. Warmly inscribed on ffep by the author (and wife of John Elliott) to Wilhelmina R. Miller, an apparent close friend. Inscription dated February 24th,1943. Laid in is a hand-written invitation to Maud Elliott and Ms. Miller from photographer Tommie Sullivan. Overall a very interesting association copy steeped in the arts history of Rhode Island. Association copy.
