Description:
Simba Productions, 1977. Very Good. First Edition, first issue of unbound illustration magazine on 8.5 x 11-inch leaves, 6 illustrations in b/w (3 by Bird, 3 by Fabian), housed in original envelope, $3 cover price. Number 218 of 300 limited edition copies, signed and numbered by Bird on a "certification" leaf. Inscribed again, and dated 6/8/77, by Bird to "Andy Offutt" on the envelope front. Andrew J. Offutt was an avid science fiction author noted for "Conan"-themed fantasies, and wrote 100s of erotic novels under pseudonyms John Cleve, Turk Winter, John Denis, Opal Andrews, among others. From the Offutt estate. Fabian has worked in fantasy realms since 1965, often illustrating eroticism, although the 3 works here are more adventure than erotica. Bird, who edited the limited "Simba" and "Balik" fanzines, was mainly an illustrator but also wrote poetry, essays, and short fiction. Near Fine with light toning.

Description:
Fawcett Publications, 1948. Very Good. V51 N398, March 1948; 10 cents cover price, 120pp, side-stapled and perfect-bound. Vintage "confessions" magazine devoted to gossip, forlorn wives, fashion, homemaking, cuisine, with a forum and endless advertisements for cosmetics, much of the editorials reading like fiction. As with many Fawcett publications, much of the photography is staged by professionals, creating dramatic, often beguiling imagery to illustrate the bawdy content. Fawcett also famously published Gold Medal paperbacks and notable magazine series, including "Startling Detective" and "Cavalier," and several how-to manuals of photography. Cover model Rae Patterson by Mead-Maddick, Red Cross fund logo, book-length "kidnap bride", medical experiments, heart health, clothing kleptomania, lecherous husbands, crimes of passion Eleanor Mills, cheese, cartoons (Little Lulu), ads (Del Monte corn, Tampax, Arlene Dahl, Maybelline). Very Good, creases, small chips and stains, rubbing.

Burmel Publishing, 1958. Very Good. N14, 1958. Vintage adult digest magazine featuring model & burlesque Irma the Body, posing seminude & emphasizing natural assets, w/ heels, hose, garters, typing, on the phone, playing LPs. Irma was born in Brooklyn, grew to lush dimensions, often worked w/ fellow dancer, Zorita (snake-charmer); one of 3 arrested strippers in Boston 1953. A tall woman on the circuit, often in Baltimore, w/ defined legs & exotic appeal, a favorite of cult director John Waters. Hundreds of similar digest magazines were produced by fly-by-night operations, mainly around New York, notably Burmel Publishing (Lenny Burtman's enterprise). Many were published as photography and/or art "studies" booklets, w/ technical camera data, exposure chart, & the standard emphasis on sexual liberation; early issues featured several models per issue & many maintain airbrushing techniques rolled over from nudist magazines, much of the posing naturally obscures otherwise censored areas. Description:
Burmel Publishing, 1950s. Very Good. N11. Vintage adult digest magazine featuring model & burlesque snake-dancer Zorita, posing seminude & emphasizing natural assets, w/ heels, hose, garters, corsets, on the phone. Zorita was born in Ohio as Kathryn Boyd, grew to lush dimensions, lived around Miami Beach (FL), noted for dancing w/ two boa constrictors, Elmer & Oscar. She left the strip scene early 1950s just as many were making their name, operated several clubs afterwards, eventually left the scene altogether to breed Persian cats. Owing to the oddity of her performances, she often appears in tabloid magazines, where other burlesque dancers favored men's magazines. Zorita's languid, slinking performances must have been sss-sensational. Hundreds of similar digest magazines were produced by fly-by-night operations, mainly around New York, notably Burmel Publishing (Lenny Burtman's enterprise).
