[Original artwork]., [1968].. Pen and ink drawing forming the front and rear cover design for Goodall's book The Adventures of Paddy Pork (1968), depicting the eponymous Paddy skipping down a country lane to a fairground (right-hand side/front cover) and a village scene with other anthropomorphised animal inhabitants (left-hand side/rear cover). To the left is a blank space for the book's titles to be placed; here the faint traces of titles in pencil can be seen but have been subsequently rubbed-out by the artist. The image measuring 38 x 14.5cm. Signed by the artist in ink to the lower left ("John S. Goodall"). There are a few discreet pinholes to the margins, otherwise condition is excellent - the image remaining clean and bright. A splendid, typically playful pen and ink drawing by the artist, illustrator and author John Strickland Goodall (1908-1996) forming the original cover design for his most famous work, The Adventures of Paddy Pork (1968).A charming wordless children's picture book, the… Read More
