The book is signed by Peter Hamilton-Giles. Book is bound in full black goat with elaborate red and gold foil blocking to front and rear, spine with raised bands with a uniform gilt design in each panel. All edges gilt, red and black head and tail bands, black book ribbon. The solander box is bound in quarter black goat meeting nonpareil marbled paper with vertical gilt decorations along edges of leather. Spine of box has seven raised bands with title and gilt devices to panels. Edges and inside of box are in black velvet with a blind embossed insignia inside on the left hand side. No place: Heaney the Magician, No date. Single card sheet measuring 4.5 x 9 inches. With photo of Heaney at top and 10 unused perforated admission tickets. Light edge wear. Very good. I've seen several of these unused ticket sheets over the years. Maybe this particular tour of his didn't bring in the number of spectators he was hoping for. Heaney (1899-1974) was a stage magician and magic supplier from Berlin, Wisconsin. "Heaney the Great" and his magic show toured North America for a number of years during the mid 1900s. Heaney's interest in magic started when he was 15 years old, when he first met Henry Boughton (Harry Blackstone Sr.). After his encounter with Blackstone, Heaney became interested in producing magical supplies. When the family jewelry store closed in 1922, Heaney announced that he would devote all of his time to the development of magical goods. This grimoiric work by David Herrerias is based on Andrew Chumbley’s Dragon Book of Essex, Qutub and Azoetia, as well as Austin Osman Spare's Zoetic Grimoire of Zos and The Book of Pleasure. Combining his Mexican cultural background with western occultism, The Book of Q’ab iTz presents an opportunity to engage with a pantheon of tricksters, familiars, Gods and Goddesses through the dream state.
