Exeter, NH: William B. Morrill, Printer, 1883. Very Good. Exeter, NH: William B. Morrill, Printer, 1883. First Edition. Octavo. 23 pages. In original brown wrappers. The highly lauded Unitarian minister delivers an address on the occasion of the Phillips Exeter Academy's centennial. Stebbins was an active minister for nearly a half century, preaching against anti-Chinese legislation, on behalf of the Union during the Civil War, and was even voted to succeed the highly influential Starr King in California. The four-page poem does not appear to be the by Edward Everett Hale, who attended Boston Latin, but appears to be the work of an Exeter alumnus. Edges a bit darkened. Overall a sound copy.
