Main Street. The Story of Carol Kennicott by Sinclair Lewis. Published by Harcourt, Brace and Howe, New York, 1921. Sm8vo. 7 5/8" by 5 3/8". Fourteenth Printing. Inscribed and with drawing by the author on the FFEP. Very good minus book, no dust jacket. Professionally repaired as to spine with original laid-on, and board edges stabilized. Navy blue cloth covered boards with orange back label, orange lettering and orange border on front panel; orange back label and lettering on spine. Boards are scuffed. Spine is sunned. External page edges are age-darkened and faintly foxed. Damp stain on the verso to the last text page (451) and the facing verso to the back free end-paper; also faintly on page 451 - see photos. Text pages are age-toned. Text block is sound. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition descriptions. Additional photos available at your request.

Inscribed by the author on the front paste down "In mem. Prodigal Parents" and FFEP "To Frances Whiting from a humble reader of this noble volume, Sinclair Lewis, Stockbridge May 20, 1937." Dark navy cloth covered boards with blind-stamped design on front panel, gilt-stamped lettering and publisher's logo on spine. Upper page edges are blue-tinted. Boards are clean, lettering is clear. Upper edge at head of spine is faintly sunned and back corner has small bump. Side and lower page edges are age-toned, as are text pages. Shadow transfers on end-papers and pp. 54-55. Internally clean and with snug text block.

8vo. 8 1/8" by 5 1/2". Very good book in very good plus dust jacket. First Edition. Signed by the author on the FFEP. In oatmeal cloth covered boards with "SL" monogram gilt-stamped on the front cover, gilt-stamped lettering against red background and gilt graphics on spine. Upper external page edges are tinted but faded. Board spine and extremities are lightly sunned. Fore-edge corners are minimally curled. External page edges are age-toned. Shadow transfers and faint foxing to end papers. Back paste down has small red-pencilled date "May '43". Text pages are age-toned, else internally clean. Text block is sound.
Dust jacket spine is sunned. Fore-edge folds are creased and scuffed but not rubbed through except at the fore-edge corners. Small chips along edges at head and tail of jacket spine; front corner at head of spine has a 1/2" closed vertical tear along the fold.
