William Blackwood & Sons Ltd., Edinburgh and London, 1926. FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. viii, 108. Original dark blue cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt. A touch of spotting, a few leaves very lightly age-browned. Spine-ends rubbed, corners just a little worn, spine gilt dulled. The first edition of MacDiarmid's most celebrated work, in the first-issue binding of dark blue cloth with sharp bright gilt title and author name (in the original form of M'Diarmid) on front cover with the decorative gilt motif in between. A very good copy with some foxing but with tight boards and pages.
