There is a small black & gold "Oxford Book Store" sticker over the price on the dj flap, but flap is unclipped. Oxford Books is located in an area generally referred to as northeast Atlanta, just about 5 miles from Emory University. With care the sticker could probably be safely removed; however, it places the book as having been in the Atlanta area from the beginning. The back of the dj has a price sticker from the store, which carries the printed date "6/17/91." This could probably be removed as well, if desired, but helps establish a time line for the travels of this volume, and so is a little bit of history itself. Current location of the book is just south of Atlanta, so it has always been somewhat close to Celestine Sibley's home, once shipped from the publisher. Ex-library copy with no jacket has black tape on the spine, pocket & date-due slip removed from rear pastedown & endpaper, front épastedown has library stamp & call number which have been "scratched out" with pencil, title page has library stamp, call number, and in the gutter some inked "inventory" information, page 55 has library stamp and inked call number in the margin. There may be another instance of a library stamp not yet found. The pages are remarkably clean, with just a bit of age-toning. The cover of the book is loose -- attached weakly at the front gutter, and otherwise completely separated from the spine. The boards are in reasonably good condition, but do have wear, light soil, corner and edgewear. The cloth is worn on the edges showing various amounts of cardboard at the edges. This listing is for the original 1984 publication only. The last picture in this listing shows both books together, but only the 1st volume is included in this listing.The book itself is in very good condition with a little edgewear, spine end bumps and a little cracked place on the lower spine edge.The jacket has a tiny closed tear at the top edge, and a little tear at the bottom of the spine edge, a little minor damage at the top of the spine, and moderate edgewear on the back of the dust jacket. The book is in very good condition with the exception of foxing/discoloration to the pages at the beginning and the end. 80 pages, including the index.
