The spine with five raised bands, ruled in gilt and with titles in gilt. All edges gilt. Additional engraved title page and frontispiece portrait. Illustrated with 14 fine full-page engravings after the work of artists including Henry Fuseli, Joshua Reynolds, Robert Smirke, and John Opie, each with its original tissue-guard. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little cracking to the front hinge and rubbing to the spine, corners and board edges. The contents with a previous owner's pencil inscription to the front free endpaper, foxing to the preliminary pages (heavier to the half-title, title pages and frontispiece) and some occasional light foxing elsewhere are otherwise in very good order throughout. Publisher's original blue and red cloth respectively, with titles in gilt to the spine, in dustwrappers. Top edges gilt. Each work with an additional illustrated title page and numerous black and white plates and in-text drawings by Feliks Topolski. Both works are in fine condition, the bindings square and tight; the contents remaining immaculately clean and crisp throughout. Complete with the original near-fine dustwrappers which have some minor marking and edge-wear, a 1cm tear to the head of the rear panel of King Charles, and a few small nicks to the head of the rear panel of Geneva.
