NY: Ballantine Books. 1998. 153pp. There is a triangle crease at the bottom front open corner, another minor crease on the front that is only really visible in certain light, and a little soil on the half-title page, but the rest of the book is clean and unmarked. Boston: Samuel T. Armstrong, and Crocker and Brewster. 1831. 654pp. The covers are well-worn and rubbed. The spinal gilt is surprisingly bright, but the leather is cracked and the spinal labels are split down the middle. The first free leaf is almost detached, but all the other pages appear to be present and tightly bound. There is a damp half-circle stain at the bottom open edge of the first ~50 and last ~25 pages, but it's not too terrible. The pages are all affected with brown spotting. There is pencil writing on the final few blank leaves. There may some leaves (actual tree leaves) or other items serving as bookmarks. There is a scrapped area on the back cover. For all these many defects, the book is surprisingly solid and in no danger of falling apart for being nearly 200 years old. (59180) . Acceptable. Hardcover.

Richmond, VA: Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad. 1927. 24pp. The only damage is a little cover soil, a light creasing of the bottom open corner (slightly affecting most pages), and three odd 1/4" tears on the hinge side (visible in the photos), not affecting the text or illustrations. There is a stamp reading "H. S. Wood" at the top right front corner. The staples are still solidly attached, and the pages are clean. (56558) . Very Good. Paperback.

NY: HarperCollins. 2015. 484pp. There is crumpling at the bottom 1/8" of the spine and the top of the spine is slightly bowed inward. Neither of these defects is really apparent unless the dust jacket is removed, nor do they harm the book's readability. The d.j. is very good, too, with a little ruffling around the top of the backstrip, a triangular crease on the rear flap, a tiny triangle crease on the front flap, and a bit of (non-sticky) evidence on the front panel where a sticker was removed. NY: Books, Inc.. 1925. 333pp. No dust jacket. The boards show dampstaining, especially the back cover, but this does not extend to the pages. The gilt on the front board is still bright. There is a chip missing from the top of the spine, slightly affecting the darkened gilt design. The book is lavishly illustrated. There is a full-page, full-color print opposite the b&w-illustrated title page, along with 23 full-page b&w scenes and numerous smaller illustrations scattered throughout the text.
