Pictorial blue cloth stamped in gilt, octavo, pp. 65, [66]. Illustrations by Frank Schoonover, including tipped in color frontispiece and one other tipped in color illustration. Fore-edge and bottom edge uncut. Shelf wear at spine ends and board tips. There is no dust jacket.

Very Good and sound in the publisher's black cloth with spine lettering gilt. FAIR only dust jacket shows soiling more obviously than if publisher had chosen a different color than white, but jacket ensconced now in a new protective sheet of archival mylar.

Wraps, quarto, pp. 162. Marked for "Experimental Use, " this draft in illustrated pale green cardstock wrappers was later published by University of North Carolina Press in 1948. Light foxing to fore-edge, and light soiling to wraps. Very small "x" mark in ink at top corner of the first two leaves, and small ink categorization code inside rear wrap at bottom. Withal, a good & serviceable draft copy, bound with two contemporary brads.

Publisher's gilt lettered and decorated black cloth spine over pale green boards with upper board lettering gilt, octavo, pp. 83. Fore-edge and bottom-edge untrimmed. Author was founder of Voices, a well-regarded Poetry magazine.

Fourth edition stated, in decorated but faded green cloth, small quarto, pp. xxiv, 473 plus short catalogue of other titles available from the publisher. Complete with the 6 maps and 54 illustrations called for. A FAIR-only copy with extensive shelf rubbing. Spine ends and board tips are rubbed through. Hinges just beginning to show signs of tenderness. The fold-out map of South America is missing an upper panel with a small portion of the continent's Northern arc. The map's middle panel is present but separated from the intact bottom third. This middle panel has some margin missing and short tears, as well. A part of the lower fore-edge margin on page 271/272 is absent (see our image with pencil). A previous owner has attempted to draw a map on the final page of the index. On the plus side, there are some striking portraits of women, including A Lima Belle; A Market Woman; Four Pretty Sisters; A Wealthy Negress; A Paramaribo Creole; and A Cayenne Creole.
