[Virginia]: [Equal Suffrage League of Virginia], Circa 1918. 8 x 6", leaflet, 4pp. A pro-suffrage response to a statement by the Virginia Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage, signed in type by Lila Mead Valentine, a leading Virginia suffragist and education reformer, as president of the Equal Suffrage League of Virginia, and published during World War I. Valentine writes that granting women the vote would help, rather than hinder, the war effort, rebutting an argument to that effect by the "antis". She also writes that women's suffrage would not get in the way of white supremacy in the south: "To assume that white women would be less interested than white men in maintaining white supremacy is equally wide of the mark." Toning and creasing to paper, small stain to front cover, chipping along upper margin with loss to a few letters of text.

Leiden: Pierre van der Aa, [1706]. Plate measuring 13.5 x 9", with a hand colored map measuring 9 x 6.5" plus elaborate margin. On a larger matting. Map from a book by famed dutch cartographer Pieter Van der Aa showing the Molucca (Maluku) islands of Indonesia, including Gilolo Island (today Halmahera) and the adjacent island chain. Map edges glued onto mount, matting soiled, minor soiling to edges of map. Very Good.

Tenth Edition. 12mo, tan printed wrappers, 36 pp. A promotional cookbook by the makers of Horsford's Bread Preparation, featuring recipes for baked goods contributed by Virginia women, each identified by name: "The enviable reputation of Virginia for good cooking is well known, and through the kindness of the several ladies of that State, whose names appear in this book, we are enabled to present to our patrons this choice collection of Recipes..." Staining and wear to covers, bit of foxing and toning to pages, chip to pp. 7-8 with resultant loss to a few lines of text, string tie through upper corner.

New York: Random House, 1928. Quarto, original tan cloth with gilt lettering, 111 pp. Number 423 of a limited edition of 1470 copies signed by Rockwell Kent. In the original glassine wrapper. Very good with foxing to text block edges, sunning to edges and spine ends, bit of dust soiling to rear endpapers, toning, staining, chipping and tearing to glassine.

Budapest: M.E. Loewy & Son, Circa 1900. 8vo, 163, [4] pp, red decorative cloth with gilt. A collection of prayers for Jewish women; according to one scholar, "My guess is that this collection dates from the late nineteenth for early twentieth century. The ideal expressed represents a reaction to changing roles of women at that time, rather than a 'traditional' tkhine" (Goldberg, Jewish Passages: Cycles of Jewish Life, 307). An attractive copy with spine lettering dulled, corners slightly bowed, pages toned.
