London: NA, 1918. A nice photograph album, from Circa 1918. Half faux leather with card boards and cord ties. This contains 22 tourist photographs of London. All are size 6.5cm x 8.5cm. Nice sepia tone with white numbers. These seem to be mainly (or possibly all) by Valentine. There are handwritten captions alongside many of the photographs of the major London landmarks. The dating is from the style and vehicles shown. There are then a number of blank pages. To the rear of the album are 4 larger (10cm x 14cm photographs with 3 exteriors and one interior of British country houses. These would appear to be slightly later photographs - perhaps 1930's. Gilt titles and illustrators signature to spine and boards in gilt. A little fading to the leather, and slight marking / discolouration to the boards only. Marbled end papers. 50 full page plates in colour / sanguine / blue, plus figures in the text in black plus a colour title page. Internally clean and tidy, with a little foxing only. Tissue guards to the plates. There were two versions of this work. a standard edition, with blue percaline boards, and this deluxe edition in three quarter leather and on smooth high quality paper. Amsterdam: NV Magazijn De Bijenkorf, 1928. In a very good condition. . Attractive Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) design. 160 x 50 mm (6¼ x 2 inches). The letters SPG stand for Simon Philip Goudsmit, the founder of the Dutch department store chain 'De Bijenkorf' (The Beehive). Nicolaas Johannes van de Vecht was a Dutch watercolorist, draftsman and lithographer. He was a student at the Arts and Crafts School Quellinus Amsterdam and the State School for Arts and Crafts Amsterdam. In addition to watercolor painting, drawing and lithography, he was a book binding designer.

Leiden: Pieter van der AA, 1713. Copper engraving, published in 1714 in Leiden by Pieter van der Aa Top left, title in a cartouche with the arms of the kingdom, illustrated with a hunting scene. A nice hand coloured map. Trimmed closely to the edge. A touch of foxing / marking, but not bad. Colours have faded a little. The map is page 19 of the Atlas Le nouveau théâtre du monde ou la géographie royale, published 1713. 230 x 300 mm (9 x 11¾ inches). Gravure sur cuivre, publiée en 1713 à Leyde par Pieter van der Aa. Une belle copie coloriée à la main de cette carte. Coupe près du bord. Une touche de rousseurs/marquage, mais pas mal. Les couleurs se sont un peu fanées. La carte est apparue pour la première fois dans le Nouveau Théâtre du Monde de Pieter, publié en 1713. 230 x 300 mm.

This is one of three works Jordens illustrated for this publisher, the only one by this author. 210 x 260 mm (8¼ x 10¼ inches).

Signed lower right, and numbered 30/132 in lower left, all in pencil. Perfect for framing. With one very light water mark to the lower right (not affecting the engraving). Hardback book full of colour and b/w images of the artist's creations, plus some of Jos at work, a biography, and an introduction by his manager. Text in both English and Dutch. Dutch born Jos van Vreeswijk is a self-taught artist who now lives in Belgium. In a good / very good condition, with minimal handling. 164 pages. 340 x 250 mm (13½ x 9¾ inches).

London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1923. First UK Edition. Clean yellow dust wrapper with image to the front and other titles by Vance to the rear panel. A little nicking to the top and bottom edge, and some rubbing to the front lower portion. An invisible repair to the inside top edge of the wrapper. Red cloth hardback with black titles. Fractional rubbing to the spine edge. Paper stock is very cheap and so significantly darkened throughout. Neat owner's name and date to front free end paper. Nevertheless a decent copy of this scarce UK First. "The most original cracksman since Raffles" says the dust jacket. The word cracksman was used to describe a burglar or thief. 313 pages. 180 x 115 mm (7 x 4½ inches).

2002. An attractive portrait in pastel by the Armenian artist Nerses Vardanyan. Image is 310 x 400 mm (12¼ x 15¾ inches). Glazed and mounted in a stained wood frame. Frame is 440 mm wide x 540 mm high. Signed to the rear of the frame with the artist's name and dated 2002. Pastel is in immaculate condition. Frame has a little wear. Born in the Ararat Province of Armenia in 1957, Nerses has been living in Belgium since 1999. He paints portraits, still life, landscapes and seascapes.

Text in French. Boards are rubbed, particularly to corners. Split along spine edge to front board, but all holding together. Inside there is a repair to issue #12 from March 1897. There are other small repairs, and several small closed tears to some page edges. Overall in a good condition inside. 245 x 190 mm (9¾ x 7½ inches).
