Really, the only issue is that a previous owner pasted the d.j. flaps down and the glue is starting to discolor, only affecting the front fly leaf and the d.j. flaps. NY: Grand Central Publishing. 2014. 454pp. The only real defects with the book are a damp stain encompassing the lower open corner of the rear board (3" x 3") and a much smaller 1" wide spot in the center of the bottom edge of the front board. These areas are hidden by the dust jacket. The d.j. is very good, too, with no tears but some corner crinkling, typical shelf wear on the edges, and two diagonal creases on the rear flap. (58835) . The paper is becoming brittle, and the bottom 1.5" of the backstrip shows the remains of an old label. The hinges are showing signs of separation, but the book is in no danger of falling apart. Issued by the Institute zur Forderung der Israelitischen Literatur (Institute for the Promotion of Israelite Literature). This book is apparently Volume 4, as indicated on the title page ("Vierter Band"), and contains articles about Rabbi Tobias Cohn of Potsdam; Jewish expulsion from Bohemia in 1744; and Jewish community relations in Spain. Otherwise, it appears hardly used. This is a travel guide with maps, hotel info, restaurants, attractions, etc. for two dozen Caribbean islands, including Cuba, and originally sold for $25. (57524) .
