Numbered 27 of 250 copies and inscribed by the author "for Jonathan a long + tender liason LOVE Anne NYC Dec 77".Titled poems include: Shaman, Murder of Pasolini Dream, Navigating the Dream, Poem, Journal, poem: Cocaine, Nijinsky Dream, Coda: The Eagle & Moon Goddess, December, Dream: Dylan & "Don", along with untitled writing and several attributed extracts about shamans. Tasteful embossed stamp from "library of JMB" on right corner of title page. Internally clean, a very good copy of this poetry chapbook. Waldman has been everywhere and done everything, from protesting and performing with Ginsberg, to being one of the leading voices of the Outrider Poets, a member of Kerouac's School of Disembodied Poetics movement, and more recently, Chancellor of The Academy of American Poets. Her work is experimental and resonant.

Anne Waldman's first book, written when she lived on St. Mark's Place in the East Village, and was Assistant Director of the Poetry Project at St. Mark's. Signed by the author on the cover. The black and red cover illustration by George Schneeman references New York City windows and prickly holly: "This season's cruelty hurts me/and others, I'm sure, who'd rather be elsewhere but can't".
A bittersweet poem of rumination about the winter season and holidays in the city.
Giant Night is dated December 3, 1967, and was published by Angel Hair in an edition of 100 copies in 1968. Angel Hair was Waldman and Lewis Warsh's press, active from 1966-1978. Printed paper wrappers. Stapled binding. 35.5 x 21.5 cm. 4 sheets, printed recto only. Near fine copy with only slightest rubbing to back cover.

Ann Arbor Michigan: Burning Deck, 1970. First edition. Oblong 4to. Publisher's original orange printed limp card wraps with cloth spine. Minor edgewear, but essentially a very good copy indeed. Internally clean, signed by Rosemarie Waldrop, founder of Burning Deck, to the title page. A scarce collection of concrete poetry by James Camp, beautifully presented by the tiny cottage publication house run by Rosemarie and her partner Keith from the early 60's until 2017. An important piece.

Signed advanced reading copy of Ward's memoir, examining the lives and deaths of five men in her life in Mississippi between 2000-2004. The title of the book references Harriet Tubman's words: "…and when we came to get the crops, it was dead men that we reaped."

She is the recipient of the MacArthur Award - unofficially nicknamed the "genius" grant. She is one of America's preeminent writers and her stunning work focuses on the American South and the impact of racism on Black lives.

London: Groombridge and Sons, 1879. Illustrated cloth binding with title in gilt and lovely floral decoration. Gilt edges. Fifth Edition of Mrs. Ward's popular book on using a telescope to understand astronomy, which she wrote with the aim of making astronomical observation obtainable, accessible, and entertaining pursuit for children and families. This copy was awarded to Miss Grace Johnstone for 1st Prize for her Music Marks in 6th Music Class, on 22nd July, 1886 Decorated floral endpages age-stained at edges. 150 pps. 18 pages of ads.

London: Groombridge and Sons, 1869. A decoratively bound copy of Mary Ward's classic educational treatise on the use of the telescope including her own stunning illustrations. Finely bound as a Mill Hill School prize with school crest in gilt to the front and rear boards. School prize bookplate to the front pastedown, 'New Foundation Day 1885' addressed to Frank H Nimmo for obtaining a scholarship. The fourth edition of this informative work on astronomy. In a full calf binding. Externally bright with minor rubbing to the joints and extremities. Pages are bright. Scattered spotting. In wonderful condition overall.

Small Octavo. Bound in maroon limp calf, rubbed, scuffed, and well used but still strong. Internally a little grubby and smudged by handling, much as might be expected of a working kitchen book. 22pp. of handwritten recipes, rather enthusiastically jammed onto each page as if the author was afraid of running out of space, there's a rather youthful exuberance to the putting together of this little pocket recipe book. The recipes are dominated by cakes, puddings and breads, including Raspberry Fool, and various sponge cakes, with some complex preserved meat dishes like Calves' Feet Jelly, and a recipe for Mock Turtle Soup involving a Calf's Head with the skin on. The spelling is a little erratic, the composition pretty makeshift, but that doesn't detract from it being a handy little household reference.

Very good condition.An English language adaption of the play Gestern und heute which about a young lesbian's feelings for her schoolteacher which lead to suicide. Also produced as a film, Mädchen in Uniform, with an all female cast. The film was heavily censored for decades following its release and Winsloe lived in exile, continuing to write plays with lesbian and and gay themes. Winsloe and her partner Simone Gentet were murdered in France in 1944, just at the time of the liberation. An important work.

Front cover detached from rest of the jacket, with small chips at top and bottom of spine and corners. Despite this, dust jacket is in otherwise very good condition, complete and preserved in archival sleeve.
