Black cloth boards with identical gilt decoration on both boards. Gilt and title on spine shows some wear. The text is enclosed in ruled margins and is clean. Frt dark green end paper missing, rear present. Tissue present at frontis. Frt & rear hinges have wear but are not split. Wear to board tips, but gilt on board edges mostly present. First blank page has a picture glued in of Lauth Sand, the granddaughter of George Sand. The inside cover has the name and address of a prior owner, and the initials of another owner in 1924. Some foxing of the upper and lower edges of the spine. Pages are clean and unmarked. The top of the page edges are gold. See pictures.
