Weimar: Geographisches Institut, 1804. 477 by 618mm (18¾ by 24¼ inches).. Original antique copper engraving, hand colored in outline and wash when published. Antique map of the Ottoman Empire. It is bordered on the west by the west coast of Turkey, on the east by the Persian Gulf, on the north by the Black Sea and on the south by the Nile Delta. The components of the Ottoman Empire are shown in great detail and individually colored, while adjacent regions are only outlined. In the upper right corner is the simple title cartouche, at the top left a legend explaining the characters used and at the bottom left the scale in geographical, Persian, French, Arabic, Turkish, English and Italian miles. Small hole in the middle. Numerous mildew stains due to water damage. Several old repairs on the back. 477 by 618mm (18¾ by 24¼ inches).

Frankfurt, around 1670. 29.3 x 34,3 cm (11.5 x 13,5 inches).. Original antique very rare copper engraving. Printed and published in,Theatrum Europeum Impressive fireworks display around the artificially constructed pointed rock with obelisk and ruler's medallion initials on the obelisk 'IG'. In the foreground there are fountains in the water, in the background a church tower. Theatrum Europaeum is the title of a German-language historical work founded by Matthäus Merian and published between 1633 and 1738 in 21 quarto volumes. The series of chronicles is particularly important because of its timely descriptions of the Thirty Years' War and the reign of Louis XIV, as well as its 720 copper plates, around 140 of which were engraved by Merian himself. The volumes are between around 400 and 1500 pages. In very good condition. Some creases at the center fold.
