Unknown Photographer. EARL'S MARINA. Original photograph, not signed or dated. 10 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches, affixed to a card mount. Photo depicts a white two story building with a concrete slab porch with an overhanging roof supported by posts. On the porch are a few chairs, a barrel, several worn tires, and other objects. There is a TV antenna on the roof. A sign on the front wall lists prices, but they aren't readable. The beach, the water and a boat are visible behind the building. A nice atmospheric photo, which we estimate to be 40-50 years old. In excellent condition.

The plane is identified as a Curtiss biplane, and the subject tentatively as Canadian aviation pioneer Frederick Walker "Casey" Baldwin (1882-1948). 3 x 5 inches, affixed to a mount, in a period frame. In excellent condition.

Scene showing a well dressed lady in a motoring cap, her broken-down open touring car being pushed by her driver and another man, while local horses watch. A few very small nicks at the sheet edges, else in very good condition.

Titled, dated and signed in pencil, and further inscribed by Heller in the lower margin "from Migratory Urge Chicago, 1928, 1st xylographic book pub in US Franklin J. Meine, Chicago, #11". 3 X 2 5/8 inches (image), 5 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches (sheet). The Whitney Museum has a copy, also inscribed and numbered 5. In excellent condition.

Tamayo, Rufino. Tamayo, Rufino. EARLY SPRING. Etching and intaglio, 1941. Not in Pereda. 13 7/8 x 10 5/8 inches; 354 x 270 mm. Edition of 4. Signed, titled and numbered in pencil. In excellent condition with a small repaired area in the extreme left margin, away from the image. It is likely that Tamayo did this atypical experimental print while working with S. W. Hayter in New York in 1941. Tamayo moved to New York In 1936 and in the late thirties and early forties he exhibited at the Valentine Gallery. He taught at the Dalton School in New York from 1938, and went back to Mexico in 1956. Tamayo developed a printmaking technique called "mixografia" through which he created images with dimension and texture; the intaglio work on this print, is likely an early example of his efforts toward this objective.
