Hardcover. First U. S. Edition, octavo, pp. x, 450 + [4]. Not many illustrations, but given the reclusive subject, we shouldn't be surprised. Very Good in the publisher's black boards with spine lettering gilt. Illustrated dust jacket Very Good.

Publisher's side-stapled printed wrappers, octavo, pp. 49. Frontis portrait of J. C. Harris and other black and white illustrations in the text. Fragile spine is weak with shelf and handling wear, chips, and abrasions. A nick on bottom edge of upper wrap and a short vertical tear at foot of spine. A couple of old spot discolorations. Withal, about GOOD and protected now from any further wear in a clear new Ultra-Pro sleeve.

Edition limited to 250 copies in red cloth with paper label affixed to upper board, octavo, pp. 20 + [6] + colophon. Frontispiece illustration of Bell. Spine ends with minor shelf bumping. From the 1939 Publication release: "The charm of this little book lies in the fact that it has been set in types cast from the original matrices . . . . The book is No. 8 in a series called 'Keepsakes,' all numbers of which show the skillful hand of Mr. Anthoensen, to whom we are also indebted for a neat bit of historical research." This unique copy from the personal books of Press owner Fred Anthoensen (1882-1969), without identifying marks, but acquired by us from a family member contemporary with Fred in the 1950s and 1960s, now a nonagenarian.

NOTE THAT Plate VII, titled "Letter Dated February 15, 1863," is MISSING. Brief Presentation inscription from Alfred Mansfield Brooks to a resident of Gloucester, MA, on the free front endpaper. That recipient's ownership stamp appears near top edge of blank rear endpaper. Small bookseller ticket at bottom of rear pastedown. Shelf rubbing at spine ends and board tips.

Publisher's original gray cloth with silver spine lettering, square octavo, pp. 62. Black and white illustrations. Note that this copy was shelved in a slanted position by previous owner, resulting in a slight bowing of the boards. Otherwise Very Good and very much acceptable as a reading or reference volume.

Previous owner name and 1901 notation from St. John, New Brunswick, on free front endpaper. Some black ink spots on upper board near top corner. Light shelf wear at spine ends and board tips. Some spots of foxing on preliminary pages. GOOD withal. See BAL 375.

Publisher's original printed wrappers, octavo, pp. vi, 38. Illustrated with several full-page portrait drawings. Just light shelf and consultation wear. From the Preface: "The Guide is not a comprehensive listing of the contents of the Healy Collection. Rather, selected authors and works are mentioned in an attempt to suggest the depth and breadth of the collection, as well as to illuminate the special relationship Mr. Healy had with a number of the important writers of the Renaissance (v-vi)"

Wraps, octavo, paginated 77-100. This copy a little weary with old creasing and one small stray mark on upper wrap near title; mark is reminiscent of an oxidized staple, perhaps from another pamphlet that was laid upon this one long ago. GOOD in the publisher's white stapled wrappers. Ensconced now in clear protective display sleeve with white cardstock backing board.

Eighteen black and white etchings laid into a black card-stock portfolio, attached in turn to a hardcover binding of publisher's blue cloth with spine and upper panel lettering gilt. Issued with an illustrated booklet, quarto, pp. 33.

Edition limited to 1,000 copies of which 950 were for sale, in the publisher's pale green cloth with spine and upper board lettering gilt, octavo, pp. 76. Attractive hunter green endpapers. White card-stock dust jacket about Very Good except for a bit of shelf smudging that shows more obviously than if publisher had chosen a darker color.
