There are thirty-six photographs and accompanying magazine clippings in this 10" x 11.75" brown faux leather hardcover spiral bound album. They are mounted under plastic to sticky pages, and magazine clippings are grouped in plastic sleeves. Photos vary in size, and are both black and white and color. There are 20 black and white photographs of black bodybuilder Sergio Oliva competing at the 1968 International Federation of Body Builders Mr. Olympia competition, which he won. On the inside cover of the album is pasted the June Mr. America magazine cover featuring Mr. Oliva surrounded by his trophies, and there are a few multiple-paged magazine articles and photoshoots about him, and other black body builders commenting on race in the competition, saved and included. A drawn in speech bubble reveals the lake to be Lake Michigan and the man himself to be the author of the note. Signed "'BYE NOW." Some interesting exposure happening in the bottom part of the photo. Two photo albums in binders that tell the life of William G. Albers of Philadelphia, that were compiled when he was an older man. Each album is annotated with identified people and places and stories. One album details the early years of Albers life in Pennsylvania, while the other documents his time in the army during WWII. Albers' World War 2 album has 57 photographs and ephemera across 20 pages. Beginning with "Bits and Pieces" and the "Home Front". Albers is pictured in uniform with his friends and family. The album continues with Albers in active duty. A photo labeled "The Original Sad Sack", as described below the image, is of Albers in the barracks in Fort George G. Meade, Maryland where he worked to guard the Alien Internment Center where Japanese Americans were imprisoned. Two business cards for Louis Wagner, who was a dealer in Granite and Marble monuments, headstones,, etc. Circa 1880s cards measure 2.75" x 4.375" and 2.75" x 4.5." One has some faded notes on the back for "Martha A., wife of C.M. Hughs. Died Sp. 3, 1888, aged 56 years, 1 mo. x 29 days." Cards have edge and corner wear and scuffs.

7" x 10.75" photo album with 185 photos of various sizes, glued to the page. Written on the inside cover is "Clara A. Vierqutz, June 1899-Aug., 1899. Vierqutz was an avid observer, preoccupied by architecture, history, and water. The majority of the 185 photographs were made over one summer in Marblehead, Massachusetts. At the time, in 1899, many of the buildings photographed were already historic, erected anywhere from one hundred to more than two hundred years prior. Notable historic sites of Marblehead, Massachusetts include: houses, churches, town halls, and a bomb shelter first fortified in 1634. Eleven 3.5" x 5.5" real photo postcards from Marshall, Texas. They are all unused with an EKC stamp box (1930-1950) and are identified within the negative. They include East Houston Street, Marshall Library, Girl's dormitory at COM, Hotel Marshall, First Baptist Church, First Methodist Church, Post Office, Courthouse, First Presbyterian Church, Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and Municipal Park. They remain in very good condition.

8.5" x 11" form letter on Martin Luther King, Jr. stationary, with a facsimile signature of King, dated November, 1967. It come with a pamphlet from the Southern Christian Law Center. Five months before the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., the Southern Christian Law Center under his tutelage sent out a fundraising letter. On Martin Luther King Jr. letterhead, it begins: "Dear Friend, America was bewildered and frightened this summer by the bizarre spectacle of American troops fighting simultaneously in Asia and in American cities." The letter goes on to place blame of "urban outbursts" within underfunded, unemployed masses of the wretched life within ghettos. This was the moment of origin of the Poor People's Campaign, which has had a recent organizational resurgence. Large 11.75 x 8.75" cabinet card photo album with a worn and detached covers, along with one torn page. This amazing album serves as a yearbook for MIT from 1890 and 1891, with 73 cabinet card portraits of faculty, instructors, and students, including four women. While the album itself has seen better days, the cabinet cards are in good condition and the scrapbook identifies each person except for one woman. The gorgeous endpapers also remain in good shape. One page is missing half, a few slots are missing photos and there are five loose photos. Large, black photo album which measures: 15 1/4" x 11 1/4", 3" thick, with 80 leaves/160 pages. Numerated on the top right corner of the right-hand pages (up to 76). Photos vary in size. A proud American, Fred. E. Elder from Coshocton, Ohio, volunteered with the allied forces against a common enemy. His training began at Camp Sheridan, Montgomery, Alabama, and his service took him to Belgium, Italy, France, and back home to America. He wore the uniform for two years and eight days. Throughout these pages are poetry, postcards, photographs, commands from headquarters, praise from General Pershing, encouragement from President Wilson, copies of intercepted communications, summaries of intelligence (enemy artillery, traps and mines, rumors of peace, etc.). This 6.25 x 7.5" hardcover book contains a gorgeous, faded marble cover, on which is written "Daniel Bailey". The front cover and first few pages are detached. Inside the front cover and first page of the notebook contain this name again, along with "York County Academy" in York, Pennsylvania, and the dates 1855-57. The first part of the notebook contains Daniel's handwritten notes on simple proportion and compound proportion, which are accompanied by his work solving word problems and mathematical formulas. The middle section of the notebook contains blank pages. If one goes to the back of the book and flips it upside down, there are ledgers of payments made from 1859 to around 1915. These first ledger pages describe the logged payments as: "Money paid by Matilda Weltz, Administrator of the estate of F. E. Bailey, Deceased, for Daniel D. It reads in part: Leonard Simkins, age 57, farm hand at Hastings, Fla. applied for treatment at Flagler Hospital June 11, 1935. Worms removed by chloroforming patient. History: negro fell asleep by horse, awoke when fly was leaving nose, fly killed by him after entering nose. The photos are credited to P. A. Wolfe, of St. Augustine, Florida. The last photo has a small chip or bite out of it, otherwise, it is in good condition.

Flip-it photo albums with about 185 color Polaroid photos, which arecarefully dated with the last name of the patient scrawled on in marker, as is the date - but no explanation of the often gruesome conditions documented in the photos is offered. Neither is any context given for these photos - where is this hospital? What is the medical specialty of the photographer? In the later album, 91 color photographs - not for the faint of heart or the medically inexperienced - 11 1/2" x 5 12" x 1 1/2", blue cover. The earlier album, also flip-it but layered rather than gatefolded, is brown in cover; the 93 photos within are dated 1984-86. Black 6-ring notebook measuring 4.5 x 7", filled with handwritten notes about Essex County, Massachusetts, with a specific focus on Merrimac. The notebook starts with a newspaper clipping which describes Essex County as one of the oldest counties in Massachusetts with a list of the original towns. There are other newspaper clippings throughout the notebook, but it is mostly handwritten notes detailing various aspects of the history of Essex County. These notes discuss eskers, schools, the public library, shops, ice businesses, railroads, and politics. The note-taker often discusses specific individuals that were important to local history. The notebook appears to be from sometime in the late 1940s or early 1950s based on the dates of the newspaper clippings. Two suede bound photo albums with Native American motives, which are noteworthy for their meticulous annotations, typed on the back of each photo. There are about 188 photos in total, and both albums are from vacations in Pocono Pines, Pennsylvania, where a group of friends and family stayed at the Linnie Lee in 1943 and 1949. The group included Chubby, Marion, Hilda, Bill, etc., and people they met along their travels. Most of the photos were taken by someone name Chester Gardener, and it is not clear who typed the descriptions, but my guess is Chester's wife and Marion's mother. In particular, the photos of a girl (Chester's daughter, I believe) named Marion, where in most cases, the annotation gives the date, the place and her precise age. For example, one message says "Marion E. Gardner, taken by Chester on the beach of Lake Nahomi, Pocono Pines, Pa, on Monday afternoon, Aug. 2nd, 1943. Age of Marion: 14 years, 8 months, 11 days. 14.75 x 11.25" album with a navy blue over and "Photographs" written in gold. This album only has a front cover, as the back cover is missing; as such, the pages are not bound. The album has 68 photos that date from the early 1900s, inserted into square pockets on grey pages. The photographs measure around 4.5 x 3.5" and are accompanied by penciled in annotations which identify the locations in the images. Photos show Michigan and Canada and include the Ash Rapids on Shoal Lake, Fort William Harbor, the Sault Canal, Cameron Island, Sultana Mine and there are also photos of uniformed men at Fort Brady. It looks like perhaps this was some sort of company business trip. A few pages have torn slots, some of the photos are faded and some of the handwritten annotations are a bit hard to make out.

Ruthenberg, and an announcement of the wedding of Dorothy Jean Malcomson and Alfred Barnes Connable, Jr.; Dorothy's husband was later a member of the University of Michigan board of regents. This 7.25" x 11.5" photo album starts in the fall of 1923, as this unidentified German immigrant makes his way to NYC. Inside, there are about 180 snapshots, mostly measuring 3.25" x 4.5" showing street scenes, beach views and friends and family in NYC and Brooklyn with a later trip to Missouri, Iowa and Michigan. The album is well annotated in both English and German. It appears that the man that put this album together was a musician or worked in the theater. There are photos of men playing the cello, violin and piano, and theatres shown include the Strand, Palace, Astor, American Theatre, Shubert and one captioned "das orchester auf dem Cache des Summer Theatre."
