No. of Unpaid mails and amount. 200 pages, each completed in manuscript, covering the dates from January 2nd 1848 to March 24th 1852. Places of origin of mails include Sydney, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Camden, Picton, Berrima, Marulan, Goulburn and Queanbeyan. Bungonia, a small township just north of Goulburn settled in 1832 near the Shoalhaven River.Gold was discovered there in 1851. Condition is very poor. London: Paget, 3rd edn 1843.. Hardcover. Good. Frontispiece and 9 plates, as called for. vi, 594 pages. Fairly plain half maroon morocco with olive boards, spine and corners ruled in gilt. 22 x 15 cm A take-off of 'Master Humphrey's Clock', by Charles Dickens. Reynolds out-sold both Dickens and Thackeray in the 19th century but is hardly remembered today. Good. With the old rubber ownership stamps of G. E. Casper on front endpapers. Some occasional browning, especially of prelims, and signs of use. Both hinges cracked internally, but very strong and secure in a good tight binding.

Original maroon cloth in good tight clean condition, lettered and ruled in black Top edge slightly dusty Front pastedown with two neat owners' signatures. Endpapers slightly browned. Dustjacket, unclipped, with only minor wear and rubbing to edges. The spine slightly browned. Despite these minor blemishes the volume presents very well. Important first novel by Welsh author Herbert Millingchamp Vaughan, 1870-1948. A rare dystopian science fiction work in which a vellum scroll is found in a metal cylinder in the Andes. This relates the dystopian history of the miniature planet Meleager, where the practice of eugenics ensures the death of defective children and where women have no power or political rights A rare book with a possible influence on Charlotte Haldane's Man's World and feminist dystopian literature generally, especially in the areas of eugenics and male patriarchy

Vietnam: The Gioi Publishers. First English edition 2004.. Soft cover. Very Good. Illustrated, 527 pages 20.5 x 14.5. Dr Dai, 1928-2002, served as a medical officer in the resistance war against the French in Vietnam and in the American War. He directed a field hospital and had first hand experience of Agent Orange. He was the director of Vietnam's Agent Orange Victims Fund and became the premier world expert on this defoliant and its long lasting generational affects on the Vietnamese population.

A cheaply produced compendium of war time recipes. 9, 156, pages, with 32 page publisher's catalogue. 19 x 12.5 cm. Cloth backed papered boards with Fry's Cocoa advert to bottom board. The top board has raised white pressed paper decoration and lettering on a dark olive ground. The top hinge strained, otherwise a good sound copy.

Some light spotting and age staining, generally a good sound clean copy. A scarce early reprint, not in The British Library or National Congress Library.
