In 1938, he was repressed and imprisoned in camps for three years. In 1942, he was mobilized and sent to the front, where he was captured. Regensburg: Nakl. Vyd-va, 1947. Fifth edition. Publisher's wrappers. Lutsyk, Stepan (illustrator). Book measures: 21 x 15 cm. 2 volumes: 104 and 122 pages. Text in Ukrainian. With the stamp'Permitted by authority of Military Government', indicating that it was permitted by the Military Administration. Both covers feature illustrations by the Ukrainian artist Stepan Lutsyk, who was also a resident of the displaced persons camp in Regensburg, Germany. The first volume is in fair condition, exhibiting signs of wear with light damage to the spine and chipping along the edges. The second volume also shows wear, with the title page damaged and the spine restored using paper tape.<br /> <br /> Books published in displaced persons (DP) camps after WWII are considered as rare and difficult to come by. Initially, such publications were produced using duplicating machines such as mimeographs, but as time went on, they began to have larger print runs.

There is some wear and fading to wrappers and rare pencil notes in the text, but it is still in very good condition for a book that was meant to be heavily used.<br /> <br /> This book was published by the Russian refugees and printed in a very small run to be distributed in post-war Germany's Displaced Persons (DP) camps. Due to difficult circumstances in those camps, including a lack of resources and military censorship, such publications are a testament to the resilience and determination of the displaced persons community during this challenging time in history.
