Description:
The Washington Post associate editor Woodward's offers a portrait of a young U.S. President as commander-in-chief. Bob Woodward drew from internal memos, classified documents, meeting notes and hundreds of hours of interviews. Faced with critical decisions on Afghanistan, the secret Pakistan campaign, and ongoing terrorism worldwide, President Barack Obama was thwarted from an exit plan for the war in Afghanistan. There was ongoing division between the civilian leadership in the White House and the U.S. Military. It was a time of government in turmoil. Obama was "cerebral and engaged"; his Vice President Biden was urgently wanting to avoid another Vietnam build-up; Obama's White House aides, diplomats, military leaders and intelligence chiefs were at odds. Woodward presents a "you are there" account for these moments in history. Glossy section, B&W photos. Prior owner ID stamp plus small address label. Otherwise clean and near fine.
