Each volume covers four months (from May 1928 to December 1929), but  the magazine was a monthly periodical and each "volume" was made up of four consecutive issues. Many Illustrated articles on very fine antiques. B&W photographs on most pages. Each volume in publisher's black decorated cloth with gilt lettering and ornaments. 9.75 x 12 inches (24.8 x 30.5 cm). Spine binding frayed to head and foot, ex-lib with associated stamps and with associated stamps and cards etc, a few pages loose or torn, otherwise in very good condition.

Used; Like New/Used; Like New. A superb and very rare original photograph from a NYC farewell party given for the great Russian bass at the end of his first U.S. visit. Chaliapin is shown in an apron and chef's hat, holding a plate and spoon aloft, and surrounded by many prominent guests. The week before this photograph was taken, on January 30, 1922, in the Victor studio, Chaliapin made his first American recordings: Varlaam's song and Boris' farewell from Boris Godunov and also Don Basilio's aria from Il Barbiere Di Siviglia. 5 x 7 inches (13 x 18 cm). He returned to Moscow in March, but later that year, in June, he emigrated to Paris.

Used; Like New/Used; Like New. A very fine large original signed and numbered photograph, an iconic image of the great violinist. Silver gelatin emulsion photograph from Hurrell Portfolio III, 1979, signed "Hurrell" in lower left corner and numbered 34/50. Matted and framed; measures 43 x 55.25 x 1.5 inches; within mat 36 x 48 inches. Frame with a few small cracks to one corner, otherwise in very fine condition. George Hurrell is credited with creating the glamour image of Hollywood through his lush and beautifully illuminated portraits of film and music stars. He set the new Hollywood standard for all that followed. In 1979-1982 he released three portfolios in limited editions, for which all printing and quality was supervised by Hurrell and each print was signed and numbered in pen by him. The present rare photograph is from one such portfolio.
