Description:
Folio page (12" x 8"), hand colored illustration, text on reverse side of page, archivally matted with print attached at the top with archival tape. Usual offset from the text side, paper a little browned and aged, slight creasing at the bottom of the plate, edges a little rough, perhaps a litttle triming on one side; otherwise very good. John Parkinson (1567-1650) was an apothecary and herbalist, and was so well respected in his field that he was consulted on the first Pharmacopoeia Londinensis by the College of Physicians. He had a keen interest in gardening, which led to the publication of his first work, Paradisi in Sole Paradisus Terrestris; or. A Garden of All Sorts of Pleasant Flowers, in 1629. This plate (page 41), which features illustrations of several flowers, is from that work.  ODB.

They are as follows: Plan Des D' Autobus, Plan De Tramways, Metro, Plan De Paris, and Environs De Paris. The Metro map is a small two pager, while the others are larger folding maps. The larger maps are printed on both sides.

Folio (11 3/4 x17), 4 pp., plus two attached receipts for 1854 &1856, engraving on top of first page, signed. Some slight aging, creasing at folds, but in very good or better condition. This is a fire insurance policy of John Wallis for a two story building on the North side of Broadway, just off Mullberry Street, in Paterson, New Jersey. The premium was $15 for $1,200 in coverage. It appears that the proceeds from the policy were to be paid to a Cornelius Duryea. Description:
Pamphlet, 8vo, removed, dbd, 43 pp.Very moderate aging, pencil note on title, no half title, some minor staining on last leaf; otherwise a very nice copy. Lowell (1769-1840) was from a prominent New England family, and considered a Federalist. This is an anti-war pamphlet, but it also gives a detailed account of the "Chesapeake Affair". Under the command of James Barron, the Chesapeake was on route to the Mediterranean in 1807 when she was stopped by the British frigate Leopard off Cape Henry. Barron was ordered to release three British deserters, and when he refused was fired on by the British. Because his ship was not ready to respond, Barron tried to surrender, but was boarded by the British, who removed the deserters. Barron was court martialed because of the incident, and suspended for five years. Barron actually fought a duel over the affair, and ended up killing a man. This pamphlet denied the inevitability of war with England, and preferred seeking adequate reparation from England for… Read More

Sheet music, 4to (9" x 11"), illustrated top cover with title, [1], 5, [1] pp. Some edgewear, partial spine split, normal aging; otherwise very good. While the Amos 'N' Andy radio show smacked of racism, it was quite popular at the time. The show debuted in 1926 and featured two white actors Freeman F. Gosden (Amos) and Charles J. Correll (Andy) who appear on the cover in blackface make up. The sheet music "The Perfect Song" appears to have been the theme song for the show. Amos 'N' Andy would actually be converted to a TV show in the early 1950s, but would have black actors. This sheet music includes two other songs, including one sung by Rudy Vallee.
