Inscribed by Ransome to his long time fishing companion Colonel T. E. Kelsall (see A. R.'s Autobiography, page 327). Hammond A24.

Original cloth, spine faded and bumped at top, but sound. Internally lacks fron free endpaper, repairs to several of the folding maps where they have torn at the usual place (the maps are on very flimsy paper). One single page map has slight damage from adhering to the adjacent map. A couple of stamps of the LNER Leeds Districf Goods Manager. Just a sound working copy.

Library labels on front and rear paste-downs,a few very discreet library stamps,else very good internally. There is a long inscription by the author on the f.f.e.p. With the erratum slip at page 1.

Bolton,1904, two volumes, pp. xv, 1-351, xii, 352-706, numerous illustrations. Original cloth, spines faded, a little rubbed, but sound. Some foxing to beginning and end of the volumes, but contents good. May require extra postage overseas.

Rochdale, 1905, privately printed for presentation to the family only. Quarto, pp. xix, 380, with a huge number of illustrations and pedigrees. A magnificent production bound in full decorated vellum. The authors state in the introduction that the work cost them £1700 to produce. Excellent condition and it should be noted that the large main pedigree normally inserted in a pocket at the back of the book is here bound separately in leather. There is a chapter on the Heapes and Australia 1839 to 1867.

Kendal, Titus Wilson, 1930, pp. x, 169, illustrated. Spine slightly faded, but very good condition in the original cloth. Includes the history of Kirkham Grammar School from 1621-1663, extracts from the Bailiff's book and an account of the Clifton and Westby Quires in the parish church. With a list of subscribers.

Manchester, Chetham Society, 1909, three volumes, small 4to,pp.xxii, 399, illustrated. Spines rather dull and faded else good condition in the original cloth. Chetham Society, New Series, Vols 66, 67 and 68.

Manchester, Blackfriars Press, 1918 ? pp (6), 101. Original printed card covers. A little dusty, but good, sound condition. The author's experiences in the R.A.M.C in the Great war. Appears to be a very rare book with no copies recorded on World Cat and only one on Library Hub at the University of Sussex.

Rochdale, L.P.R.S., 1902-1904, volumes 12 and 18 in the series, covering Christenings, Burials and Weddings. Transcribed by Giles Shaw. Original cloth, spines a little rubbed and dull, front free endpaper of the first volume partially stuck to the half title, else a sound set. The Middleton registers include Ainsworth,Birtle,Ashworth,Hopwood, Great Lever, Pilsworth and Thornham.
