Metallic gold background with illustration of a woman, one side of her face showing youth, the other old age. Her paper hat is affixed with a small brass grommet at the center, allowing it to be rotated back and forth between "Bride and Widow." Verso blank with evidence of adhesive. Very light creasing to mechanics, otherwise near fine.

Warmly inscribed by author Miriam Novitch to friends, Dr. A. Horvitz & Mrs. E. Horvitz. Includes a second note apologizing for grammatical errors in the text. In 1943, fighting alongside the French Resistance, Novitch was arrested and sent to the Vittel internment camp for foreign enemies of the German Reich until its liberation in September 1944. After the war Novitch devoted her life to holocaust research and historical preservation, becoming the first curator of the Holocaust Museum at kibbutz Loḥamei ha-Getta'ot in 1949.
