Linoleum block print in the style of the Taller Graìfica Popular. Handmade paper sheet is approx. 14.75 x 11 in. ; impression is 10 x 7 in. Very good overall, with light marginal soiling and handling marks. Loose as issued. [1348]
In the folklore of Sinaloa, Jesús Malverde is revered as a bandit saint, watching over the poor. His is especially popular among lower-level traffickers caught up in the violent struggle of of the Mexican drug trade. While there is no evidence that Malverde lived, his legend is vitally important to the local culture of the regional highland. Every year on the anniversary of his death, a party is held at Malverde's shrine. According to a fascinating text on Malverde by scholar Patricia L. Price, "Narcotrafickers have strategically used Malverde's image as a 'generous bandit' to spin their own images as Robin Hoods of sorts, merely stealing from rich drug-addicted gringos and giving some of their wealth back to their Sinaloa hometowns, in the form of schools, road… Read More

Description:
First issue, 32 pp., of the mini-comic / fanzine issued by Gene Mahoney, illus. throughout. 8vo. Near fine. Illus. stiff wraps. [1307]
A curious fanzine from the precipice of the modern Internet-era, with an opening editorial asking readers, "aren't you sick of going to parties and being subjected to overpaid (and underlaid) cybernerds foaming at the mouth about this new computer program or that new Sillicon Valley company?" Declaring war on the boring culture of computer-based entrepreneurship, the issue also includes comics drawn by the publisher, as well as a strip by Saša Rakezić, harkening back to the early days of the civil war in former Yugoslavia. Scarce.

Announcement for the rally and march in protest against the brutal massacre of two Southern University students who were shot dead by police that had been sent in quash weeks of demonstrations on the school's Baton Rouge campus. Text reads, "From the murders at Orangeburg, Texas Southern University, Jackson State, to Southern University in Baton Rouge Louisiana, we see a continuous pattern of "colonial murders" quote of Black people. How can we continue to claim that we are citizens in a country that continues to murder our people? We must recognize that just as our African brothers in South Africa are controlled by outsiders (U.S. government) who prop up the racist white South African government, so our people at Southern University, and San Francisco are controlled by outsiders. Whenever we move to take control over our lives, whether it be in Africa, or America we are faced… Read More

Poster printed recto and verso with texts and images in red and black inks on white commercial stock. Ca. 14 x 20 in. Very good. Loose as issued. [1520]
An unrecorded and gorgeous work by The Berkeley Commune in affinity with the International Werewolf Conspiracy and Up Against the Wall Motherfucker, identified for us by UAWMF founder Ben Morea as a co-publication with New York chapters of the secretive network of radicals. Strike Anywhere calls for immediate unified militant action to take control of the America's urban centers: "if there is going to be any student-worker alliance, then it will be formed (as clearly seen in france) not in the factories, but on the streets, or not at all. if poor whites & middleclass hippies are going to come together as in chicago berkeley & NY it will be in the streets. if there is going to be a true working alliance with blacks, then it will come from the common struggle in the streets. the streets are where we will confront the man & where the struggle will… Read More
