N.P: Possibly from Leland's "All the orations of Demosthenes, pronounced to excite the Athenians against Philip King of Macedon. 1756" , [c.1750's]. 14-1/2" x 21"- 36.8 x 53.3 cm. Copper engraved hand coloured map. Small hole to Aeolian coast, repaired tear above Crete, generally very good. A good map of Greece extending from the Adriatic Sea to the coast of Asia Minor. Many islands are indicated.

Venice: Published in Ptolemy's "Geographia"., c. 1561. Copperplate engraving. Some text showing through from verso otherwise a nice dark impression.. 7-1/4" x 9-3/4. Very early map of Spain & Portugal showing principal cities such as Corduba (Cordoba) , Barcinon (Barcelona), Cartago Nova (Cartagena) as well as several rivers. Roman provinces of Betica, Lusitania, and Hispania are indicated.

16" x 19"-40 x48.2 cm. Neatline coloured map. Creasing mostly confined to blank margins but a couple in image to Mediterranean Sea and Cappadocia, repaired c/f at head and foot of blank margins and 2 small holes along c/f, area of very light browning to the Black Sea but a very good dark impression. Very decorative cartouches of putti with sheep and birds, and two putti mermaids in the Black sea. Shows Thrace, and the Aegean Islands across Asia Minor and Extending into Armenia, Assyria and Mesopotamia.

Published in Gerard Mercator's "Atlas sive Cosmographicae, c. 1613. Copper plate engraving with full hand colouring.. Darkening along c/f with repaired split to lower c/f margin, some chips to margins but on the whole very good. 13-1/2" x 19-1/2"-32.2 x 49.5 cm.. Highly decorative map of Northern and Central Asia with parts of China. The Great Wall of China is indicated. Korea is shown as an island. The mythical lands of Gog and Magog are referred to and a newly discovered coastline of Nova Zembla is charted by Dutch Arctic explorer Willem Barentsz. French text verso. Van der Krogt 1, 104

A very detailed map of Ukraine, Russia, Crimea and countries surrounding the Black Sea during the Russian-Turkish war 1736-39. Historical notes indicating where archaeological remains relating to Alexander the Great are indicated as well as topographical and cultural observations.
