London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1905. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. F. H. Townsend. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Housed in a cloth slipcase with leather label, with inner chemise. Book is housed in a green half-leather slipcase and clam shell box. Book exterior shows corner bumps and soiling, spine is sunned. First edition, first issue, with the printers credit on page 80 stating: "Bemrose Dalziel Ltd. London and Watford". The clamshell board wrap still has ribbon pull present. There are two closed cracks on the clamshell, both on the same hinge. Each is less than 1 inch. No handwriting or bookplates noted in book though foxing is present, with the end pages being pretty severe. Slipcase is in better shape than the book and it appears the book was placed on a shelf (because of the sunned spine) and the slipcase must've been packed away. See photos.

Silver Spring, MD: Silver Spring Press, 1978. Soft cover. Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. John Tenniel. See photos for condition details. Tall softcover, pale blue boards shows some fading along edges and spine. Both front and rear fore edges are darkened along the edges, possibly from glue. Internal binding is fairly tight as it appears the book saw little interior use but the reason for the low condition grade is because the first page is starting to detach along the top edge by about 2 inches. The remaining pages are tight and secure. Inscribed and signed by the author across from the dedication page: "To Justin Waters From the author Charles J. Bauer, Oct. 25, 1981". Title page states this is a first edition, limited to 2000 copies of which this is 1904.

Lucknow, India: Methodist Publishing House, 1899. Hardcover. Fair. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details hardcover, black cloth boards with gilt text on spine. Interior shows spotting and soiling along with tearing around the corner edges of the upper and lower hinge areas. Interior binding has some issues at the boards: front hinge is cracked as is the rear hinge, though not as severe. There was also no rear end page - it is unknown if the book was printed this way but the possible missing free end page is the reason for the lower condition grading of fair. Remaining binding of the text pages is good and there are two different books with title pages bound in this edition: the first title page of "Tafsir Ahd-I-Atiq" contains 392 pages., the second is "Ahd I Atio Aur Us Ki Tafsir, Yaramiyah aur Nauhe aur Un Ki Tafsir by Padri T. Hardcover, inscribed and signed by the author opposite the copyright page: "From one advertising gal to another! Martha Ross Temple from Marge Lyon". Light green cloth boards with gilt text on front and spine. Exterior shows spotting and soiling spine shows tanning. Edges and corners show light bumps and there is some light staining on the top and bottom page edges. The internal binding is good in text pages are tight. Paper is toned due to age and the end pages and pastedowns show heavy foxing with the rear pastedown being the heaviest. It appears the book was never fully read as numerous quadrants of pages are still partially uncut. Copyright page states first edition.

Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1952. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover with dust jacket. Original price of $2.75 still present on flap. Stated first edition on the copyright page. No handwriting or bookplates noted, no torn or loose pages, no hinge cracks. Dust jacket is in extremely rough shape as seen by photos, and will be placed in protective sleeve once we are done listing it here. Book itself has moderate foxing with the worst being on the end pages and pastedowns. If the rear board cloth has spots if otherwise book has been well protected by the dust jacket. Sauter showing the city of Santa Barbara. First edition thus, with copyright page showing only an October, 1934 publication date. Previous owner signature on second front end page. Pages are clean and bright, binding is very nice. A few minor foxing spots on end pages seem to be the worse of the book. Cloth boards are clean and bright though rear board has a few fingerprints. Nice look in book - see photos.

New York: Privately Printed, 1929. Salon Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcovers, two-volume matched set, privately printed in New York in 1929 and labeled Salon Edition on the spine bottom of both books. Conditions are similar for both volumes with the exterior black cloth boards showing scuffing and minor soiling, along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The exterior page edges also have some light scuffs and scratches. Internal bindings are good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. There is a bit of oddity with volume 1: the book is complete though in the back of the book there is a second set of pages from the front end page through page vii. Exterior shows scuffing and soiling along with a few scrapes and bumps. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are toned due to age and some spotting/foxing is present. Bottom edge of textblock has some staining which can also be seen on pages 208 through 213. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings. Stated first edition on the title page.

Bloomington, IN: Indiana University Press, 1958. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Clare Leighton. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The price is clipped on the front flap. DJ shows scuffing and soiling and the underside of the jacket was neatly reinforced with a strip of masking tape. Over the decades the glue has darkened the front of the jacket and also left tanning marks on both pastedowns and opposite end pages. Green cloth boards underneath are clean though edges do show fading and corners are mildly bumped. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings, no remainder marks. The only evidence of handwriting is on the front end page, where you could just make out where a price was once penciled and then later erased.

Hardcover, original binding of dark green decorated boards with gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows scuffing and spotting along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Corners are rounded and backing is showing in several spots. The interior binding has a lot of pulling in spots but pages are very secure. The front end page contains previous owner's name along with an old price, both of which have been written in pencil. No other handwriting found in the book, no library markings, no bookplates. Pages are mildly toned and foxing is present throughout, with the worst being the frontispiece and title page. End pages and pastedowns also show quite a bit of spotting and smudge marks. The upper left corner area of the front board has a few whitish spots and lines. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No handwriting or signatures other than that from the author. No bookplates, no library markings. Ages are toned due to age and there is some minor spotting and smudge marks, though this is mainly limited to the end pages and pastedowns. The overall condition of the interior binding is good except for a few spots at the front board hinge, which is starting to crack. The rear hinge is good and all the text pages are good. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings, no handwriting, nothing torn or loose. Pages are toned due to age and there are a few scattered foxing spots present. First edition thus with a single date of 1938 appearing on both the title and copyright pages.

Inscribed and signed by the author on the first free end page and dated September 6, 1911. An attractive copy with marbled page edges - something not normally seen with his title. Binding is tight and pages are clean. Page 9 has a brown spot near the spine, otherwise no issues noted. Exterior boards show a few smudge marks. A vg+ to near fine condition. Orange cloth boards with black design and text on front and spine. Stated first edition on the copyright page. Illustrated end pages are free and clear of any handwriting or bookplates, no signatures. Half title page shows evidence were a bookseller's price was penciled and then erased. An attractive copy with only issue being light soiling to exterior boards. Book condition graded as VG plus. See photos.

The board show quite a bit of spotting with the rear cover being the worst as the cloth turns to a pinkish color the closer it gets to the bottom. This issue only affects the exterior the book is the inside is unaffected. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The text pages are clean but the end pages show toning in very minor foxing spots. There are no library markings, no remainder marks, nothing torn or loose. The only evidence of handwriting found in the book is in the upper right corner of the rear pastedown, were you can just make out where a price was once penciled and then later erased. The only reason for the low condition grade of good is because of the spotting on the exterior cloth.

New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., 1953. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ is scuffed and soiled with numerous chips and small tears. Underside of jacket was neatly reinforced with masking tape along the entire top and bottom edges. Over the years the tape has become brittle and is starting to come loose. Blue cloth boards with gray in gilt design is clean with no exterior issues. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings present. Pages are slightly toned due to age though there is some spotting and foxing which is mainly limited to the end pages.

New York: Farrar & Rinehart, Inc., 1934. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, inscribed and signed by the author on the front end page: "To Andy Kelly - all best - always - to a doggone swell guy - Mark Hellinger, November 5, 1934.". Red cloth boards show quite a bit of spotting and soiling along with edging corner bumps/wear. Front board has chips to the cloth and dampstains are present on the fore edges. These dampstains have caused purple marks to be present on a number of pages in the beginning and the end of the book, and the worst seems to be at the rear end page and pastedown. No other handwriting found in the book, other than that from the author. No bookplates, no library markings. The stains are cosmetic and do not affect the readability of the book. This publication is a collection of 64 of Hellinger's 1920s columns as Broadway reporter for the New York Daily News.

Hardcover, dark orange cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Stereo shows soiling and smudge marks along with edge and corner bumps. Small white stain is on the right side edge of the front. Inscribed and signed by the author on the front end page: "To my friend Mrs. Edith P. Dickens, in remembrance of our tour through Ireland. Sophie Poe, Roswell New Mex.". In addition, the author attached a photograph of your home on the front pastedown. She wrote underneath it "The Home Nest". Front pastedown a small pencil scribble in the upper right corner which has been partially erased. Pages are toned due to age and some minor foxing is present, no other page issues noted. An extremely scarce book to find in original printing, much less signed by the author.

Leather is untreated and shows soiling and scuffing, spine has a piece of brown library tape neatly placed across it. Internal binding has issues which is mainly limited to the boards has both front and rear hinges are cracked, rear hinge shows evidence of some gluing in the first few end pages are precariously hanging on. Remaining pages are well bound and secure, frontispiece still has tissue guard present. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Pages are toned due to age and some very minor spotting/foxing is present. Good copy for reading or reference material.
