The book has a 4" tear down the middle of the rear gutter and a 1" tear at the bottom of the gutter, all hidden under the dust jacket, which is not torn. If placed upright, the book's spine wants to naturally bend to the left, which probably caused the tear, but the book is still solidly bound and the interior is pristine. (59433) . Memorabilia of Henry George Couture from his time serving aboard U.S.S. Arkansas and U.S.S. Humphreys. Nearly 300 pages, most of which contain multiple items. This is a scrapbook kept by Couture's wife, the items tacked to leaves of complete(?) manuscript nautical scholar's record of Paul H. Tarpley. Most items are from 1934-1937. The important contents includes nearly 50 components from shipboard news, "ARKY NEWS", a mimeographed sheet. Sometimes only clips are present and sometimes complete issues. Other ship-specific items include a red, white & blue ribbon with USS ARK in gilt letters (corsage base); programs for Washington's 1935 birthday celebration and Smoker; and a Christmas 1934 celebration program.
