Loose as issued, complete of chemise and slipcase. One of 44 copies, from a total edition of 56 copies on Arches wove, signed and numbered in pencil by the artist and the publisher. The eight Pythian is the last classic illustrated by Picasso, after Ovid's Metamorphoses and Aristophane's Lysistrata. Pindar ode was presented in 446 BC in the honor of the winner of the wrestling competition at the Pythian game at Delphi. Picasso etchings illustrate three aspects of the athletic contest, described in Pindar's ode: A young athlete about to begin the match, the triumphant athlete radiating beauty and strength, and defeated athlete with folded arms and dark face. The dry point mounted on the cover can be reconfigured into an imaginary portrait of the poet. Ref Cramer 108 Very good conditions.

Paris, Éditions du Chêne, 1946. This beautiful portfolio is a collaboration byFrench poet Pierre Reverdy and the renown Henri Matisse. It comprises of poems by Pierre Reverdy and fourteen original lithographs in sanguine by Matisse. It is one of only 200 copies on vélin de Lana, from a total edition of 250 numbered copies, all signed by Riverdy and Matisse. It is complete with a full illustrated cover, folder and slipcase.
