The volume is in very good condition, with some age related discolouration to the covers. There are the remains of a previous price sticker on the outside of the front cover, and a price sticker on the title page.

First appearing as a comic in the pages of the Cincinnati Enquirer newspaper in 1918, the adventures of Seckatary Hawkins, the alter ego of author Robert F. Schulkers, went on to appear in book form beginning in 1926. Seckatary Hawkins acts as the secretary of his group of friends, taking on the task of recording their adventures in first-person in the various books, which went on to be a hallmark of early 20th century American children's literature. The tales were inspired by Schulkers' own childhood in Covington, Kentucky and became hugely popular, inspiring the creation of the Seckatary Hawkins fan club, The Fair and Square Club, the name of which reflects the moral lessons imparted in many of the stories.
