Hard cover, 16mo, in pictorial illustrated brown cloth blocked in black and gold with images of a deer, and woodsy scene of a log cabin and canoe to the top board. 295 pp. plus 7 pages advertising, several of which feature vintage engraved illustration for fishing equipment and the like. Printed by Rand Avery Company, Boston. Fontispiece portrait of the author, with tissue guard. No other plates. Contains ten short stories which the author describes as "clippings of the chisel" compared to his "larger and more pretentious works." Stories include: "John Norton's Christmas," Henry Herbert's Thanksgiving," A Strange Visitor," "Lost in the Woods (a fragment)," "A Jolly Camp," Was it Suicide?" The Gambler's Death," The Old Beggar's Dog," The Ball," and "Who Was She?" Condition: Very Good Plus. One light mark to cover, light rubbing. Minimal crimping at spine ends. Pages gently age-toned. Hinges in order. Quite clean, top edge a bit dusty. Generally fresh in appearance. Plum & Scribner 7323.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus .
