Numerous text illustrations from drawings by William Allan, David Roberts, William Simson, Henry Warren, C.E. Aubrey, and William Harvey. A new edition, revised: first published 1823. One of the earliest and most attractive of Victorian color plate gift books. A work of true scholarship with the author best known for his biography of his father-in-law Sir Walter Scott. Slight rubbing to corners.
