NY: Dodd, Mead & Company (ca. 1927). 8vo, [x] 297pp. Navy cloth stamped in gold with color pictorial label affixed to the front. 12 hand-mounted color plates. Spine ends a bit rubbed, front label affixed with some waffling, else a clean, tight copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (chipping and wear at edges, some rubbing to spine panel). Rare in jacket.
Early printing, ca. 1927, based on publisher's dust jacket advertisement listing "New Titles for 1927." Often considered to be E.J. Detmold's masterpiece, this gorgeously illustrated edition of the classic tales from One Thousand and One Nights is truly breathtaking. Filled with fantastical architecture, vibrant colors and captivating scenes, this charming volume is a true delight.
