About This Item

London: Henry Kimpton, 1933. Cloth. Very Good. 10" by 6.5". Richard L. Sutton; Emmy Lou Sutton. A very scarce early edition of this prominent American dermatologist's account of a winter spent hunting in the Arctic with his daughter. A very scarce early edition of this work from American dermatologist, photographer and big game hunter Richard Lightburn Sutton Sr., published shortly after the 1932 first edition. An account of a winter spent by Sutton in the Arctic, pursuing his twin passions of rifle hunting and photography.Illustrated throughout with the photography of Sutton and his daughter, Emmy Lou Sutton. From the library of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie was an extravagant socialite and renowned beauty of the Edwardian period. Impeccably connected, Pleydell-Bouverie was also the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII, and rumoured to be a lover of King Edward VIII. A sparkling figure of fashionable society, her friends included Nancy Mitford, Coco Chanel, Winston Churchill, and Fred Astaire. This work is from the sale of Pleydell-Bouverie"s library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire. She purchased the home in 1940, redesigning the interior and amassing an impressive library, featuring many examples of her own bookbinding. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to spine head and tail, with patch of fading to head of front board. Front hinge slightly tender, but holding firm. Internally, binding lightly strained to start of text block, but generally firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good
