About This Item
James H. Heineman, 1993. Hardcover. Fine/fine. Fine in fine dust jacket. Hardcover. xviii+ 455 pp. with bibliography, index, appendix of Bolton/Wodehouse/Kern musical plays. Illustrated with photographs. Despite some opinions to the contrary, modern American musical theater actually began on the night of April 20, 1915 with the opening of "Nobody Home" . It was the first musical to treat seriously music, book, and lyrics as equal creative partners; the creative trio was Guy Bolton, P.G. Wodehouse, and Jerome Kern. This work is more thana Broadway history, it's a recreation of the life and times of three of the American Musical Theatres' most important and fascinating men.
