About This Item

The Eye of the World (Book One of the Wheel of Time) by Robert Jordan. Hardcover First UK Edition - First Printing Orbit 1991 (true first edition TOR/Tom Doherty & Assoc. US 1990). Fine- in Fine- Dust Jacket. A near perfect copy with typical aging to the text-block with a hint it was probably read once, very slight aging to the boards, straight corners, slight hint of shelf-wear, tiny pinpricks to the upper and lower front corners of the jacket. Still a superior copy. NOTE: The pictures are of the actual item for sale, not stock photos. All books in jackets come with dust jacket covers. NOTE on edition: The true first edition/first printing was published by TOR/Tom Doherty & Assoc. in only about 2000 trade hardcover copies, the balance in trade paperbacks with many of the former going to libraries. Because of rising demand, TOR modified some of the trade paperbacks into hardcovers for a second state of about 1000 copies. Orbit UK released the book in hardcover probably in about the same number, 2000 copies. Right now a bit rare in first printing copies in either edition.

Synopsis

The Eye of the World (abbreviated as tEotW or EotW by fans) is the first book of The Wheel of Time (WoT) fantasy series written by American author Robert Jordan. It was published by Tor Books and released on January 15, 1990. The unabridged audio book is read by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading (Jennifer Mendenhall). On January 2, 2002, The Eye of the World was re-released as two separate books aimed at a young adult literature market, with larger text and a handful of illustrations.

What a fantastic book! So much depth to the characters and this is written so well i found it impossible to put down. Robert Jordan has a way of pulling you in and making you visualize so clearly what is happening that its as if you yourself were there!
On Sep 12 2017, a reader said:
Great start to a great series! The mid books get bogged down in too many details, but the early books (and final ones, written by Brandon Sanderson based on Jordan's notes) are among the finest fantasy books in the modern era.
On Apr 3 2013, Fireflower537 said:
If Robert Jordan would have kept things on a MUCH shorter MUCH simpler level he might have had a great series. He would have been able to finish the books before his death at only 58. I only read the first three and I have since regretted it.
