London: J. M. Dent / New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons - n.d. (Circa 1907). Hardcover red cloth with gilt embossed titles and paste-down illustration. One color frontis. and 44 full page plate illustrations. (John D. Batten, Illus.) All edges gilded. 477 pp. This edition, with the intricate John Batten illustrations, was first published by Dent in 1893. This may be the first American edition of it, in very good condition. There's a bookplate and xmas gift inscription dated 1907 at the front. The gilt titles on the spine are darkened and faded. There are small check marks in pencil alongside the contents at the front, otherwise unmarked.
