New York: D. Van Nostrand, 1864. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. 146pp. Maroon cloth, gilt lettering to spine. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED by the Author on front free endpaper. Cover spotted, spine lettering partially obliterated, front free endpaper missing, contents lightly age-toned, preliminaries foxed and occasional light foxing to text.. Front endpaper is inscribed to Col. Townsend, and signed by the author. Verso is inscribed in pencil, in a different handwriting, partially illegible. Morris served as a Brigadier General in the Union Army. The author offers precise detail of field tactics and maneuvers, along with numerous diagrams.
