Boni & Liveright, 1927. Hardcover. Good. 1927. 271 pages. No dust jacket. Black cloth with gilt lettering. Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with creased corners and foxing. Hinges and guttering are cracked. Binding is loose. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean.
Synopsis
The Metamorphoses of Lucius Apuleius, which St. Augustine referred to as The Golden Ass (Asinus aureus), is the only Latin novel to survive in its entirety. The protagonist of the novel may in fact be the author himself. His first name is revealed to be Lucius at the end of the novel, he is revealed to be from Madaurus, the hometown of Apuleius himself.
