Undated. xvi, 464pp, black and white photographic in-text illustrations. Illustrated green cloth-covered boards, top text block edge gilt. Bevelled edges. Black endpapers. 4to. A large and heavy volume requiring an additional charge for overseas delivery. Sun-faded spine, rubbed corners and spine ends, cloth wearing and boards soiled. Fore and bottom text block edges tanning, fore edge starting to fox. Prelims tanned, volume quite loose otherwise internally neat, clean and bright.
Synopsis
Guy Mannering or The Astrologer is a novel by Sir Walter Scott, published anonymously in 1815. According to an introduction that Scott wrote in 1829, he had originally intended to write a story of the supernatural, but changed his mind soon after starting. The book was a huge success, selling out the day after its first edition.
