About This Item
London: Brentano's LTD. , 1921. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 9" by 6". Various. A well illustrated biography on the life of Napoleon Bonaparte, intended as a more 'impartial estimate' of his life, with a frontispiece, plates, and folding maps. First Edition. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Illustrated with a frontispiece, fourteen illustrated plates, and sixteen folding-maps. This is a biography on the life of Napoleon Bonaparte. Its author, Walter Geer, wished to set his work apart from those that showed 'hatred' and 'idolatry', and instead to offer a more impartial estimate on Napoleon's life. Contents include 'Early Years', 'The Revolution', 'Toulon and Vendemiaire', 'The Coup D'Etat', 'Saint Helena', and 'Personality of Napoleon'. Additionally, the appendix to the rear of the text displaying genealogical tables and notes for the Bonaparte family as well as titles conferred by Napoleon. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Some light fading to head and tail of spine, with a few marks and light cockling to fore edge of front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Maps are very bright and clean, with no closed tears. Very Good
