Bit of toning and soiling to the extremities. A post-Chandler portrait of Los Angeles in the words of the fictional private eyes, cops, shamuses and detectives who've prowled its mean streets.

With black-and-white photographs of 1990s Los Angeles and gritty excerpts from L.A. detective novels. Signed by 21 of the quoted authors, including Michael Connelly, Walter Mosley and Dean Koontz.
