New York: George H. Doran Company, 1927. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. Original blue cloth, top edges gilt, others untrimmed, dark blue endpapers. Spine and gold lettering on spine is worn and faded. Including colored portrait frontispiece, 10 colored plates, 7 black and white plates and one folding map at the end. First US edition, large paper issue of 250 copies, numbered 196. The costs for production of the 1926 Seven Pillars meant that T.E. had to produce an abridged edition. Included are several newspaper articles from 1935 about T.E. Lawrence's death placed in book by previous owner.
Synopsis
The abrdiged version of Seven Pillars of Wisdom, which is the autobiographical account of the experiences of British soldier T. E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia"), while serving as a liaison officer with rebel forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks of 1916 to 1918.
