New York: Harper & Brothers, 1959. First Edition, Second Printing. Cloth. Near fine/near fine. Richard Nixon: A Political and Personal Portrait by Earl Mazo, signed by Vice President Nixon.. Octavo, viii, 309pp, [1]. Red cloth, gray cloth spine, title stamped in gilt on spine. Light wear to cloth spine. In the publisher's near fine dust jacket, retail price on front flap, archival tape repair to verso, bright illustrations. Signed on the front free endpaper: "To John _, with every good wish from Richard Nixon." Shortly after the 1960 election, the author of this work, Earl Mazo, wrote a series of exposes on potential voter fraud during the 1960 presidential election. Nixon appealed to the editors of the Herald Tribune to kill the 12-part story, which they did, with Nixon saying: "our country can't afford the agony of a constitutional crisis - and I damn well will not be a party to creating one, just to become president or anything else.
