Hinges are lightly cracked but covers remain firmly attached. Paper covers have light edge-wear and corner curling with minor scuffing overall. Spine has minor rolling and creasing.

Papered boards a little unevenly tanned; extremities slightly bumped and rubbed; edges and endpapers slightly foxed; endpapers split but binding remains sound; a very good copy with the price-clipped dustwrapper a little tanned, creased, chipped and torn. The second Napoleon 'Bony' Bonaparte detective novel, the writing of which required Upfield to give evidence to the 'Snowy' Rowles/ J.J. Smith murder trial in 1932.
